Kate Hunter has spent her whole life fighting to escape poverty. Raised by drug-addicted parents in one of the poorest parts of Los Angeles, she learned early that no one was going to save her. Now twenty-two, Kate works as a stripper while secretly saving money for college. Behind her bright makeup, fake nails, and confident stage image is a hardworking, inexperienced young woman who still believes she can build a better future.
Everything changes when Miranda Brooks, a wealthy and elegant woman, visits Kate’s club with a strange offer. She wants Kate to become the caretaker of her husband, Liam Brooks, a successful millionaire who has been using a wheelchair since a motorcycle accident. Kate has no medical experience, but the money Miranda offers could completely change her life. Desperate to secure her future, Kate accepts and moves into Liam’s luxurious mansion.
Liam is nothing like Kate expects. Cold, suspicious, and deeply unhappy, he pushes away everyone around him. He believes people are interested only in his money and treats his new caretaker with open hostility. Kate refuses to be intimidated.
